Sandunes Paradise Beach – Water sports park in Pondicherry

Sandunes Paradise Beach is the new attraction for adventure lovers travelling to Pondicherry. It was opened to the public in early 2021 and is already a hit among tourists.  It is located at the south end of the Chunnmabar River in the backwaters where water sports activities will occur.

How to reach here

Sandunes Paradise Beach is located 5 kilometres from the Chunnambar Boat House, and from Pondicherry White town it will come around 12 km. You have to take a left turn from Pondicherry-Cuddalore main road at Pooranunkuppam. It is on the way to RKN Beach Resort and Le Pondy Resort. So you can find a lot of signboards for these resorts on the way.

Since it is located inside Poornakuppam road, you may need cars or bikes to reach here or walk around 3 km from Pooranankuppam junction of Pondicherry-Cuddalore main road. The last 1km towards Sandunes Beach will be a bumpy ride since the roads are not laid yet.

Entrance Fee or Ticket Price

Once you reach the entrance of the sandunes beach, you have to take the entry ticket. It costs you Rs.70 per person and it is free for kids. I like the way they explain why they are charging the entrance fees.

Once you are inside the sandunes beach, the left side of the road has the backwaters where most of the water sports activities take place, like Aquapark, Speed Boat, Kayaking, Jetski, Zorb Ball, Roller Ball and Yacht rides which is the first for Pondicherry as far as I know. For fishing enthusiasts, they are also offering Fishing rods.

Aquapark

Aquapark in Sandunes Paradise beach is the first of its kind in Pondicherry. You can play games with friends on the inflatables that will give you an excellent thrilling experience by running, jumping, sliding, and climbing. It will be fun with friends and families, where you can challenge each other, and at the same time, you can have the time of your life.

Aquapark costs you Rs.750 per person for adults and Rs.500 for Kids.

Water sports activities

Other water sports activities like Kayaking costs Rs. 350 per person, Donut Rides Rs. 750 per person, Speed Boats Rs.500 per person (min 4 persons), Jet Skis Rs.1200 per person, Zorb Ball Rs. 200 per person (10 min), and Rollerball Rs.250 per person (10 min).

They provide lockers to keep your valuable items safe and have facilities to change your clothes in the changing rooms. They have a restroom where you can take a bath to clean yourself.

Sandy Beaches

Apart from water sports activities, Sandy Beach welcomes you. The beach here is neat, clean, and well-maintained. They have plenty of shacks where you can spend time with your family.

They provide activities on the beaches with ATV Rides, Horse Rides, Archery, trampolines, Rain dance, etc.

Sandunes’ beach’s main attractions are Yaht Ride and Candle Light dinner. Both were not offered anywhere else in Pondicherry.

Candle Light Dinner:

Candle Light Dinner was offered here with flower decor, soothing music and a cake for your beloved ones. It is one of the most romantic things you will ever do. Candle Light Dinner in Sandunes beach starts at 7 pm and ends at 10 pm. Food and Drinks can be arranged for an extra charge.

Yacht Ride:

Sandunes beach offers you a Yacht ride to the sea. They offer rides like Sunrise Ride; Dolphin shows season ride, Deep Sea Fishing Ride etc. The yacht Ride will be for One hour in the sea, and a maximum of 10 people can ride on it.

The Fat Fish seafood restaurant on Sandunes Paradise Beach offers you the finest seafood from Pondicherry. They operate in the evenings from 6 Pm till 10 Pm.  You can have a peaceful dinner while gazing at the sea. They do have an extensive menu from fish fingers to seafood noodles. You can also have fresh juices and icecreams here. They have some special recipes like live crab or lobsters that will be cooked depending on the availability on that day flavoured with Indian Masala.

Best Season: Although the Sandunes Paradise beach opens all throughout the year the weather in Pondicherry will be best from August to March, and April to June will be hot.
