Serenity Beach in Pondicherry
Serenity beach in Pondicherry is one of the famous beaches on the ECR Road. Serenity beach is renowned for surfing and seafood restaurants and it is located in Kottakuppam (East Coast Road), around 5 km from the white town in the north of Pondicherry.
How to reach:
If you are travelling from White town, then head towards ECR road. Once you cross muthiyalpet, you must reach the ECR bypass and take a right before Mother Shanthi Mahal. The small narrow road of 500 metres will bring you to the serenity beach. It is a Fishermen’s village, and boats are anchored on the shores.
In the mornings, you can witness fisherman comes with their fresh fish catches and park their boats on the shores of the serenity beach. Locals swarm around the boat to buy the fresh catches then and there without wasting time.
Surf Schools:
As I mentioned above, Serenity beach is best for surfing compared to other beaches in Pondicherry. Waves here are comparatively longer for you to surf and that gives you enough time to board on your surf. Waves here at serenity beach are consistent during certain seasons; this will help a beginner to try multiple times before you succeed. Serenity beach has famous surfing schools like Kallialay surf school, mother ocean surf school and Guru surf school.

Seafood and sea:
Serenity beach in Pondicherry is one of the few places where resorts and restaurants have a good view of the sea. Restaurants like Theevu Plage Beach Resort are located right at the beach, where you can get a good variety of sea foods.
Besides surfing, good restaurants are available where you can try fresh sea foods. You have options like a dine-in restaurant – “Theevu Plage Beach Resort” which offers sea foods with a good view of the sea. The food here is costly compared to other places. Other options like street foods stall Beach Grill, Prawns aunty Pondy, and KVS kinds of seafood can satisfy your appetite.

Stroll along the beaches:
The best thing you can do is stroll along the beach side towards the north side of the serenity beach. You will be welcomed with rocks that stretch towards the sea. You can walk on the rocks, and it will be fun where the waves will crash over you. It will be the perfect spot for photography. If you move further north, you will reach sandy beaches and the coconut trees on the shores, which resemble Kovalam beach from Trivandrum.
