Rock Beach in Pondicherry

Rock Beach or Promenade beach in Pondicherry is the most popular beach in India. If someone visits Pondicherry, then they will visit the beach road first before going to anywhere else. It is located in the white town stretches around 1.2 kms from Kargil war memorial till Dupleix statue. Beach road is most enjoyable after 6 Pm where people from all ages go for walk or just relax at watching the sea where the waves crashes the beach relentlessly. From the north end Rock beach road has Kargil War Memorial, Chief Secretariat and the famous Gandhi Statue. At the centre of the road, Le Cafe restaurant is there, where you can sip your favorite coffee while gazing at the sea. Just opposite to the Le Cafe restaurant, French War Memorial is there. South end of the road has “Gelatario montecatini terme” & “Richie Rich” ice cream shops, “Waffles on the rocks” waffles shop, Pondicherry local artisans handicrafts shops and also Dupleix Park. On the northern side of the road artificial Beach shores was created recently, you can dip your feets in the sea water. Be careful not to venture too deep into the sea. On the southern end, rocks were laid inside the sea. You can walk and take some good pictures from that location.

Best Season: July to March, April to June will be hot.
