Sea Cruise in Pondicherry starts at 6 am and lasts for two hours. The cruise will begin at the Pondicherry Mangrove Forest. Pondicherry Mangroves are giving a tough fight to Pichavaram Mangroves as a tourist destination. You can find a lot of bird activity during your cruise through the mangroves. More than 70 species of birds have been recorded in these mangroves and nearby areas.
Once you cross the mangroves, you will see the rows of fishing boats docked along the sides of the Pondicherry fishing harbour. On the other side fishermen in catamarans through a cast net in the Ariyankuppam river to catch fresh catches of the day. After crossing the port, you will reach the river mouth or estuary, where the river and sea join at this point. It will be a bumpy ride till you cross the estuary from the river to the Bay of Bengal.

You will be asked to wear a life jacket at the sea cruise’s start. Life Guards will be there to take care of you. Tourists can enjoy swimming in the sea with the help of lifeguards. After swimming in the sea, you will be returned to the mangroves in the ariyankuppam river and visit Arikanmedu, which is the archeological site. Ruins of Arikanmedu will take back you to the ancient period where Pondicherry had a relationship with the rest of world like rome etc. Sea cruise trip will end after the Arikanmedu visit.
