On March 7th, 2021, the state health department of Tamilnadu issued a new travel advisory that states that all domestic and international passengers traveling to Tamilnadu need an “e-pass”. But neighboring states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Union Territory “Pondicherry” are exempted from this requirement. This means entering Pondicherry via road from states other than Karnataka and Andhra need an “e-pass” since Pondicherry is bordered with Tamilnadu, you have to cross the Tamilnadu region to reach tourists attractions like Auroville, etc. Pondicherry doesn’t have any mandatory quarantine rules as of now.

Passengers from Kerala and Maharashtra who are entering Tamilnadu have to undergo mandatory quarantine for 7 days.

Business travelers who will travel for a short trip to Tamilnadu for less than 3 days (72 hours trip) are exempted from home quarantine, but they need an “e-pass”.

International passengers who are flying to Tamilnadu from UK, Brazil, and South Africa have to submit the samples at the Airport centers for testing, even if they have done the testing before. International passengers from other countries need to upload the Covid-19 negative reports which were done 72 hours before the departure, to the website: www.newdelhiairport.in (Air Suvidha Exemption Request Form).

Passengers are advised to monitor their health. If they are showing any symptoms, they were advised to go for the Covid-19 test.
