Paradise Beach in Pondicherry is the most sought-after beach for tourists visiting Pondicherry. Paradise beach is located on the backwaters of the Chunnambar river, around 8kms from Pondicherry White town.
How To Reach:
To reach Paradise Beach, you must catch a boat ride at Chunnambar Boat House and take a boat ride to Paradise Beach via Chunnambar River. It is one of the picturesque boat rides where you can get the vibes of Alapuzha. At the same time, rows of Coconut trees lined up on the northern side of the river, and the fisherman was fishing on the river’s southern flank. Usually, it takes 20-30 minutes of boat ride to reach Paradise Beach from Chunnambar Boat House.

Boats will leave you at Paradise beach and return to pick up another set of tourists. Paradise beach is one of the cleanest beaches in Pondicherry, which the tourism department maintains well. The beach has shacks and shelters to protect you from the sun, where you can sit and relax. You can quickly dip in the waters of Bay of Bengal and stroll along the beach. Lifeguards will be there for your safety. It is always recommended not to venture deep into the sea. Always listen to the lifeguard’s warnings and take precautions accordingly. If you are hungry, they have a small bar with soft drinks and snacks (slightly expensive). Paradise beach has adequate restrooms for visitors.

Birding: Chunnambar River is one of the top hotspots for Birding in Pondicherry. If you have a good eye for birds, you can spot many birds in the Chunnambar River and on the shores. Around 121 species of birds are recorded in this river and nearby areas. You can sight rarities like Eurasian Oystercatchers, Peregrine falcons and even osprey during your ride to Paradise Beach in Pondicherry.

Paragliding: Paradise beach started paragliding in recent months. A professional team offers it, and you can experience this adventure sport. Paragliding will give a bird’s view of Paradise beach.
