Sail Trim: Understanding how to adjust and trim the sails correctly is essential for optimal performance and control of the boat. Learn about the different sail controls, such as the mainsheet, traveller, Cunningham, outhaul, and jib/genoa sheet, and how to use them effectively in various wind conditions.
Points of Sail: Mastering the different points of sail (upwind, close-hauled, reaching, beam reach, broad reach, and downwind) is crucial for navigating different wind angles. Learn how to adjust your sails and steer the boat appropriately for each point of sail.
Boat Handling Techniques: Enhance your boat handling skills by practising manoeuvres such as tacking, jibing, heaving, and man overboard drills. Develop the ability to execute these manoeuvres smoothly and safely in various conditions.
Weather and Wind Awareness: Gain knowledge of weather patterns, cloud formations, and wind effects on sailing. Learn how to interpret weather forecasts, recognize wind direction and intensity changes, and make informed decisions based on weather conditions.
Safety at Sea: Refresh your knowledge of safety procedures and equipment required for sailing. Develop an awareness of potential risks and how to prevent accidents while on the water.
Duration of the sailing course:
The Basic Introduction to Sailing training program will take place over two days and will last 10 hours.
