Surfing Brief History
Surfing history started in 1885 in the Hawaii islands, and it was introduced to California in 1907 by George Freeth from Hawaii. Later, surfing spread across the world to Europe, South East Asia, India etc.

Why Pondicherry is the preferred Surfing Destinations in India
In India, Surfing is not as popular as other adventure sports. It was a sport that seemed distant, unspoken of, and we had no international athletic representation till a few years back. Surprisingly so, considering our country’s long coastline and breathtaking islands. Kovalam in Chennai & Trivandrum, Pondicherry, and Gokarna are a few of the popular surfing destinations in India. Indian surfing team won a silver medal at the Maruhaba Cup, a team event, at the Asian Surfing Championships 2024, and they qualified for the Asian games in Japan 2026 for the first time.
Surfing in Pondicherry is the most sought-after adventure sport for tourists. Surf schools in Pondicherry started way back in 2008. Kids who are older than eight can learn to surf and do it. On the shores of a serene beach, you can see kids running around with surfboards under their arms, where the salty breeze mingles with the rustling of coconut palms, dreaming of being a part of the World Surf League. Surfing Course Itinerary
5 days (8 Sessions in total)
Day 1: The program begins with safety briefings, where we learn about equipment like different types of surfboards, the importance of leashes, etc.
Day 2: Basic skill building, such as paddle technique, popup, and hitting the waves for the first time.
Day 3: Mastering paddle technique and body surfing
Day 4: Learn how to balance and stand on the surfboards
Day 5: Perfecting Popups and balancing techniques
*Each Session will go for 60 minutes to 90 minutes
Weather
Weather during the programs in Pondicherry ranges from 39ºC in the daytime
to 34ºC in the evening. We may experience rain sometimes.
Things to carry
- Water Bottle (Being well fed and hydrated is crucial to staying energized for the action-packed days)

Fitness requirements
This program might be more demanding than the usual physical activities you’re used to. We recommend a little jogging, stretching and exercise a few days before the departure to gain the flexibility and agility needed to truly enjoy the experience.
